Gazmanov studied at secondary school #8 in Kaliningrad with Lyudmila Putina and Lada Dance. In 1973, he graduated from Kaliningrad High School of Marine Engineering. From the third year he was engaged in science and went out to sea on ships. After finishing his studies, he was invited to work at the high-class marine engineering school in Kaliningrad, as a chair lecturer, gave lectures and wrote dissertations. When the scientific work ended, Oleg realized that his ability as a scientist could not be realized. In 1981, he graduated from the Kaliningrad Music School, the guitar class. He started his creative career by working in the hotel-restaurant “Kaliningrad”, where he was helped by his friend Mikhail Rein. He sang in the vocal-instrumental ensembles of Kaliningrad: “Atlantik” and “Visit”.
In 1989, he created the group “Eskadron”. In the late 1980s, he performed with his son Rodion Gazmanov. Galina Romanova was the first pianist of the group. At the same time, Galina Romanova performed some of Gazmanov’s songs (“Valera”, “Unattainable Boy”, “Snowy Stars”, “My Pirate”) while working with the “Eskadron” group.
He is considered a master of sports in gymnastics. Third Class Depot Captain. Since 2002, he has been considered a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The following songs, which became Gazmanov’s “calling card”, “Squadron”, “Yasaul”, “Gentlemen, Officers”, “Moscow” and “Pirate”, are the most famous.
Gazmanov’s song “Moscow” has become the unofficial anthem of the city of Moscow. In 2012, he participated in the recording of the anthem of the Russian Federation. In 2013, he received the title of honorary citizen of the cities of Kaliningrad and Saratov. In 2014, he took an active part in the preparation and holding of the Sochi Olympic Games.
