As informed by the RA Prime Minister’s Office, at the beginning of the consultation, the Prime Minister noted that during the discussion of various, including strategic, issues, they came to the conclusion that intellectual property protection mechanisms and their improvement are of essential key importance in terms of economic development and improvement of the investment environment. According to Nikol Pashinyan, the purpose of today’s consultation is also to get an idea of what mechanisms operate in RA, to what extent these mechanisms operate and to what extent our country is able to protect intellectual property. presenting the main functions of the office: acceptance and examination of applications for industrial property objects, state registration, issuance of patents and certificates and maintenance of state registers of said objects, registration of franchising, license agreements and rights transfer agreements. The prime minister was also presented with information on applications for registration of inventions, industrial designs, and trademarks for the years 2021-2023. It was noted that compared to previous years, the number of applications for registration of trademarks received under the national procedure, as well as the number of international applications for trademarks received under the international procedure (Madrid system) under the designation of the Republic of Armenia, has increased. It is noted that Prime Minister Pashinyan reminded that there was a famous case years ago, when a local businessman registered an international famous brand in RA and was interested in the outcome of that case.
