Italian freestyle wrestler, world and European champion Frank Chamizo said that he was offered 300 thousand dollars to lose in the selection tournament held in Baku.
The wrestler spoke about this in an interview with La Repubblica newspaper.
“They came to me and offered me 300 thousand dollars for my defeat.
I don’t want to say who, but it happened in the morning, on the day of weighing.
I sent them to the writer’s lap, because I represent not only myself, but also Italy, my federation and the army,” the publication quotes the wrestler as saying.
According to Chamizo, his victory was “taken away” and given to Azerbaijani Turan Bayramov.
“I knew that it would be very difficult for me in Azerbaijan, because I was fighting in their house, and they bought everything,” he said.
